Best Solution for Missing Teeth at Dr. Toschi in San Jose

Restoration of missing teeth is necessary because the gum region with no teeth starts to resolve. Bone loss affects the facial contours and your mouth begins sagging. Dental implants are a substitute for missing tooth roots and hold artificial teeth in place. Made of titanium (Biocompatible material), implants fuse well with the bone. They deal with concerns like missing teeth, ridge modification and sinus augmentation.

One-Stage Treatment:

Subperiosteal implants are placed in a single day and don’t require a second surgery. When the bone has receded, the implant is placed below the gum and not into the jawbone. The crown is directly placed over the implant and the restoration is done in a single appointment.

Two-Stage Treatment:

Endosteal implants are surgically placed into the jawbone. An incision is made in the gum to position a titanium post. The surgical site takes a few weeks to recover. After osseointegration an abutment is positioned over the implant to hold the final prosthesis. This requires two surgeries.

Hybrid Fix Denture:

Removable dentures are uncomfortable, bulky and cause soreness. Hybrid fixed detachable denture is a replacement of the traditional denture and is a blend of a fixed bridge and a removable denture.

Known as the "teeth in one-day procedure" it can replace all missing teeth. Incisions are made to place four or more implants in the jaw. A metal framework is connected to the implants using abutments. This holds the prosthesis in a fixed position. A denture is attached to the metal framework and can be removed for cleanings.

Post Operative Care:

  • After surgery, physical exertion should be avoided for the first few days. Take prescribed antibiotics to avoid infection. In case of infection contact your dentist.
  • It is natural to spot blood in the saliva for the first few hours. Bite on the gauze pad in case of continuous bleeding. If the bleeding persists, visit your dentist.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking to accelerate healing.
  • Avoid hot drinks for the first 24 hours after surgery. Consume a lot of cold fluids.
  • The surgical dressing should be kept in place for two weeks. Avoid brushing and flossing in this area. A cotton bud can be used to clean the area.
  • Maintain a good oral hygiene.
